Indications:
Cipro is an antibiotic used to treat and prevent infections caused by bacteria. It is also used to prevent anthrax infection in people who may have been exposed to it. It can also be used to treat certain types of urinary tract infections. This antibiotic will not work for viral infections like colds and flu. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How to take:
Cipro comes in a tablet form and taken by mouth with a full glass of water. It is usually taken twice a day in the morning and evening with or without food. It is best to take the tablets at regular intervals and finish the prescribed course of the drug. Do not take more than the prescribed dose. Swallow tablet as a whole, do not break, chew or crush. Precautions:
Before taking Cipro, inform the doctor of any allergies to cipro and other antibiotics as well as other medications. Also inform the doctor about the other medications taken especially vitamin, supplements, and herbal products. Also tell doctor if patient has medical conditions such as arthritis, cerebral palsy, dementia, stroke, or kidney and liver disease. If patient is taking antacids, allow some time to pass between when you take a dose of any of these medications and when you take a dose of ciprofloxacin. Ciprofloxacin may cause confusion, dizziness, tiredness, and lightheadedness therefore do not engage in activities that require mental alertness and coordination. Prolonged exposure to the sun may make skin sensitive so use protective clothing and sunscreen when exposed to sunlight. Ciprofloxacin may cause diarrhea during or after treatment therefore do not treat diarrhea with over-the-counter drugs, consult the doctor first.
